Tank Assault is an arcade game in which you are an anti-tank cannon commander who must do anything in his power to destroy the enemy and liberate his city. Enemy tanks come in different weights: light, medium, and heavy, and they move on three different ground levels. On each level, you have a number of tanks that you must eliminate to get to the next one. You also have to avoid being hit by the tanks which shoot at you all the time or you will die. You are given three lives at the beginning and then you can get more according to the points you have.
The controls are really simple, but you have to be really quick to command the tank, avoid the enemy shots, and shoot at the same time. You move the cannon horizontally with the left/right arrow keys and up and down with the up/down arrow keys.
Unfortunately, the game only includes one mode and all the levels look exactly the same, although they get more and more challenging as you progress. It would be great if it included various difficulty levels to choose from.
Regarding the graphics, they are simple, but nice, considering that it is a pretty old game. Sound effects are average and the music is suitable, although very repetitive.
In short, Tank Assault is a simple, but challenging game that will surely get you playing for a while until you get tired of doing the same all the time.
